Our story

In a bustling city apartment filled with the comforting scent of jasmine tea, two friends were rifling through their wardrobes for the perfect outfits for a pivotal networking event at a chic downtown gallery. Despite their closets being packed with options, neither felt that magical spark when they pulled an item off its hanger. One sighed as she tossed another brightly colored blouse onto her bed. Next to her, her friend freelance writer with a penchant for vintage styles, was equally frustrated. Her love for 70s fashion often left her looking more casual than she intended, not the professional vibe she was aiming for tonight. “I want to look confident,  she lamented, staring at her reflection in a mirror draped with necklaces and scarves. 

“But every outfit I try feels like I’m trying too hard”. I know what you mean. It’s like, I want to feel comfortable but also stand out. It’s a fine line.” Their eyes met in the mirror, an unspoken understanding passing between them. They were both tired of the standard advice to dress for success in uncomfortable, stiff outfits that did nothing for their self-esteem. “Let’s try something different for the next event. Something we put together ourselves from fabric to silhouette.  Their eyes lit up with a mischievous glint. “For tonight let’s mix and match”. Maybe your artistic flair with my vintage finds could create something unique.” 

Excited by the prospect of breaking the mold, the decision to explore creating clothing was taken. As they accessorized, helping each other with belts and earrings, a new energy filled the room. They were crafting personas that were true to their spirits, blending comfort with a dash of professional flair. Standing together in front of the mirror, they finally saw what they were looking for: outfits that spoke of their individualities without sacrificing comfort. The goal was fun, smart, stylish and above all comfortable. There was hope for the times to come. The hope that they did not need to waste time looking for clothes if they had the right ones. That night they left the gallery not just with new contacts, but with a new found belief in the power of dressing true to oneself. Soon after Threads Plus was created.
